This is a strange question but what was Boromir's gift from Lady Galadriel in Lothlorien?
I'm not sure, but I think he doesn't get any.
A belt of gold; and each member of the fellowship got Elven cloaks with leaf pins.
in the books thats true but in the movie he dont get anything
That's very true. He didn't get anything in the movie. Strange. Was that on purpose or just a mistake?
Well, technically, Aragorn didn't get anything from Galadriel either. Maybe she just doesn't like men!
No, but that was because she said he already had a better gift than she could give him. Now Boromir, he didn't. It's not really a big deal, but it puzzles me still...
Maybe PJ didn't bother to spend a minute on Galadriel giving Boromir a gift, because
Boromir would die 10 min after. And if he had been given one, he wouldn't have had used it so much, would he?
I mean every other gift is important in the next movies:
The Elven rope helps Frodo and Sam down the cliff, Legolas' bow is used all the time,
That light bottle (don't remember it's name) is used in Shelob's tunnel, Galadriel's hairs
shows that Gimli is begining to like the elves and the daggers... well they are not really
used that much, but they do have some screen time in TTT.
But then again, maybe PJ just forgot it?!?
I doubt he forgot. She looked into his mind or something. He was very afraid of her cause she knew his true reason for being on the fellowship, that he was weak and what Denethor had told him to do.
First off, I don't feel that because he doesn't use the gift so it has no point is not a reason to not put it in the film.
And I don't feel that Boromir's only reason for being in the Fellowship is to bring the ring to Gondor and achieve his fathers goal..in his heart he wants to do the right thing and follow Aragorn so I dont find him weak.
But he is weak. He tries to take the ring. That is what she saw in him. Like she saw it in herself.
I'm not suggesting he was going to carry out his father's will but I'm saying she could see in him that that was why he was sent to the council that that was Denethor's wishes. He failed to take the ring and then did good. But he did try to take it...
Every movie must be edited so that the important things are included, and
Boromir's belt isn't that important.
The other gift on the other hand is used several times troughout the movies.
Therefore they are included.
PJ could have cut out Merry & Pippin's gifts too, because in the books
they take them after they're saved by Tom B.
Yes but I'm saying that thats not a reason to not put it in because the detail makes the movie and film work..there are many things in the film that are details that don't have a role in the story but are still shown the create the depth, thats all I mean.
And now I know what you mean, Haldir...I just never feel Boromir is weak because he fights for all he believes in with honour and many would fall to the ring's power if they had the opertunity.
you can say he got a gift (elven cloak the pinm thingy ect...,) but he didn't get his own personal gift like most of the fellowship got... but PJ probaly didn't give him one because he dies lol
Just because you don't SEE Boromir's gift doesn't mean that he didn't get it.
It could have simply been left untold, as some things are.
The daggers of Merry and Pippen never made it to Two Towers. They were discarded along with the blades that Aragorn gave them. All you see in Two Towers are their belts with the little scabbards.
Maybe she didnt give Boromir anything because she knew he was a schmuck and was going to get kaked before the movie was over.
When Galadrial read Boromir's mind she saw that he was going to die and felt it unnessasary to give him a gift.
Or PJ just dind't want to do it.
