Basically an all-round discussion thread for all things Bleach.

Keep in mind that most Bleach fans are up to date with the series as it is aired so you may see/read spoilers.
Having said that, please state the episodes you will be discussing prior to your input to reduce the chance of ruining it for others.

    Ie;

    Eps 140-145.

I watch Bleach constantly, as long as new episodes are coming in. I think however, that they are stretching the rubber way too much, at the begining it was interesting, I'd even say it was very interesting! lets say from the first episode till about 80. But afterwards they started to add stuff to it, things which arent connected to the main plot and dont improve the story at all.. and thats what they do now too.. just in order to keep it going. IMO Bleach would've been alot better anime if it had ended in about 100 episodes. All those Bounto, Arracncar etc.. additions to the anime are makig it look like another very long anime and decreasing its quality in my eyes. Perhaps someone wont agree with my POV, but I cant help seeing it that way.

The Bounto were just filler, they don't need to be taken into account. It was just an arc to let the manga get further.

Still, it was a boring as hell filler. The only good things about the Bount arc were Nova and the My Pace closing theme song!

I haven't really watched beyond that, firstly because I was very quickly losing interest as well as because we don't have any more episodes yet.

I definitely liked it while it was all still "rescue Rukia" and all. Haven't read the manga at all for Bleach.

Just a question - why is it called Bleach? I've heard some vague ideas but if anyone knows the official reasoning behind the name of the series, I'd love to know. And ideas and speculation are good too!

I am nearing 140....so am catching up.
While I dont care for fillers, i do understand the need. I also dont have too big of a problem with Bleach fillers (except the one about the cake.....), mainly because I have suffered through all the naruto fillers....those were horrid fillers.
But, yeah, I am really enjoying Bleach.

It's called bleach because his hair is orange, and everyone assumes his hair is bleached. That's all there is to it lol

Well...in the little Author's doodles in the manga's, one of the little notes translated said that.

Plus it's the most endearing and realistic reason I've seen.

I'm right with you on this one. I also suffered through 99.9% of the Naruto fillers and I find Bleach to be quite easy going.
There have been one or two of the recent episodes where I think "what's the point", but at least they don't have one of the characters spending an entire episode taking you through everything you've already seen!

I actually started watching Bleach before Naruto, and found the reverse was true. The Bount arc killed me, just about, and when it came to Naruto fillers, I couldn't wait for more (relatively speaking). Some Naruto ones were VERY filler-y, but at least it was mostly light and digestible and quickly over.

One of the reasons I've heard for the name Bleach is something to do with the reference to Ichigo's hollow-ness, and how it's like a inverse shinigami in colours and appearanace *shrugs*

Either one is a decent explanation. Oh well.

The Bounto Arc was short lived. It ended quickly and there was a little character developement as well.
I don't think it was as bad as everyone else seems to be making out at all.

I agree, personally I liked the bount arc. That was filler that I enjoyed, though later filler was not so good...but still.

I thought the Bounto Arc sucked and just didn't watch the rest of it. It was going a bit too slowly, and it was just annoying. I've stuck to the manga so far lol

You can download the manga via FTP from StopTazmo or something like that.. search that in google. It can also be found at Mangatraders.com

    lol FTP...how crude.

I get the manga from IRC, directly from the scanlators. If you want I can post a small "tutorial" as how to access the channel and get them (btw...there's like loads more manga alongside bleach if I tell you lol)

hmm.. I dont see anything "crude" in that.. should you know there are tons of manga there. And all new chapters are up-to-date, and its all scanlations there.. I dont know your bandwidth speed, but with mine i download each and every chapter in less than 1 minute.. I have sites where you can even read it online.. dont have to download at all..
