Has anyone noticed that in the Sil. Beren is a man, of the house of Beor. In the BOLT 2 he is a gnome (Elf).

Hmm. Didn't know/catch that. So then I suppose Tolkien hadn't came up with the elf-man relationship between Beren and Luthien until sometime after.

If you read through all that stuff Christopher Tolkein wrote, he mentions the fact that it's different in the Unfinished Tales. Since those were somewhat of a rough sketch. I guess Tolkein had a better idea at a later point and changed the story.

Ya that is what I figured, there are alot of differences in the lost tales compared to the sil or the Unfinished Tales.

Wow! I didn't know that. One of the parts that I've read in the Sil is the tale of Beren and Luthien, and it's one of my fave lotr related stories ever...
