So this movie is India's biggest-budget movie production ever, and it's suddenly broken all Indian box office records by a wide margin in the first few days of its release, which was this week.

It is also a product of South Indian cinema, and not Bollywood which is north Indian. This movie is produced by Telugu film director S S Rajamouli, who has distinguished himself with some original hits like Eega ("Fly"). Bahubali is also being dubbed and released in other Indian languages like Tamil, Malayalam (South India) and Hindi (north India).
It will also be dubbed for release in international markets (English, and possibly Chinese, and others)

Bahubali (translation: "The One With Strong Arms") is a 2-part movie, with the first part (Bahubali - The Beginning) having come out this week, and the second part (Bahubali - The Conclusion) coming out in 2016.

This movie has really caught the attention of the rest of the Indian film industry and the media, because of its huge surge of popularity in India. People are literally flocking to see this movie in droves, which has caught the rest of the film industry by surprise.

The characters and story are completely original fiction, written by the film's storywriters, but it's presented in a style that's similar to Indian mythological epics - and it has massive battle sequences and over-the-top action like "300", as you can see. It also has some romance and tragedy.

The word "Bahu" refers to the upper arms and shoulders, while the word "Bali" means "strong/powerful" (adj.) or "strength"(noun). The story's main hero is Amarendra Bahubali, whose name means "Amarendra the Strong-Armed".
The title of the movie can be interpreted to mean "The One With Strong Arms" or possibly "Strength of Arms" (ie. military strength or power, which alludes to the large battles we see being fought in this movie.)

The movie's main ballad is sung in Telugu, a South Indian language which I don't speak, but it's loaded with words from Sanskrit (ancient language, India's equivalent of Latin), a few of which I recognize. With input from others, I was able to work out a translation - may need some improvement, since many words have multiple meanings:

    World-building

Don't worry, there's no music like this in the film (it's just a nod to you-know-who):

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sanman works for Bollywood and was paid to make this thread as advertising.

That being said, I saw both of the Baahubali films and they were actually pretty entertaining. The fight scenes are ridiculous, which is great. The films don't take themselves seriously at all. Some of the romance scenes were very awkward (and in the first movie pretty sexist), but the rest of it was alot of fun.
