Some recent stuff from last year... story illustrations and whatnot.
nice work bud
Awesome I especially like the last one. By the way, what stories are those? I love the illustrations.
Wow, these are amazing! You drew all these??
Very beautiful. You've always been so talented!
I love your stuff! It's amazing.
Alas, the last one is by an amazing artist who's agreed to do a series of paintings for the story. Her name is Tamara Callens, an American impressionist. It'll cost me a pretty penny too. But what are retirement savings for if not to enjoy while one is unretired and having fun?
The story in question is by me! I've taken to writing a tale about three 12 year old girls who become unlikely friends during the French Revolution. They get mixed up with a band of wayward nuns who live in the wilderness in a mountaintop abbey... guarded by a ferocious hellhound no less. It's Gaslamp/Historical Fiction with a touch of gothic supernaturalism.
It all came about when I happened upon this video clip from an old movie...
It portrays what had happened to 16 Carmelite Nuns who refused to bend their beliefs to the powers that be in Paris. I'm still an atheist, but even so, I have to respect these ladies. They certainly were committed; and as such were dispatched in less time than it's taken me to write this message. I'm taking liberties with these nuns and making them more formidable, more deadly. These ladies of mayhem go about things in an altogether un-nunlike way. One of their order, Valerie (a French courtesan) snorts the ashes of Joan of Arc to get a supernatural high... she'd very much like to slit the Pope's throat.
Well done, Sparrow! Great pictures
All but the last one are by me. The one on bottom is by Tamara Callens. She's agreed to do something she's never done before... story illustration. I'll do the drawings, and gladly acquiesce to her amazing talent for the paintings.
If you're in the mood, at some time I'd like you to read what I've written so far. As the consummate reader your opinion would be greatly valued!
And glad to see you returned!
Thanks a lot!
I can thank this forum for getting me drawing and painting again. One thing begat the next, and here I am doing something different and exciting!
Hope you're doing well and still drawing and painting up a storm.
I'm glad to be back
And I'd be delighted to read your work! I'm intrigued already.
Thank you! I don't think I have been drawing or painting since I last posted here, I am trying my hand at photography and dog training instead. Not that I am any better at that than I was at completing a drawing.
Either way, it's fantastic. Congratulations! Hope you'll post more so we can delight our eyes with the beautiful artwork.
I'm envious of your talent. I wish I had the patience and passion for art that you very clearly have. Have you ever painted a picture of yourself?
I've gathered together some actors/models to play the main characters in the book... the better to draw and paint them!
