Any tips would be great - patterns, material, whatever.
a pattern could be this one :
material : leather, for sure; it looks good, you can work with it, its waterresistant, and so on.
so what do you think of this pattern ? im going to try it in a few days, i just have to wait for the leather to arrive (i hate lazy people selling things on ebay ....).
i`ll tell you if that one can be used for an aragorn jerkin when im finished !
Cool. Thanks. Can't wait to see yours!
today i got the leather from ebay, so maybe i can start working on my jerkin in some days.
i´ll post some pics when its finished ...
One pattern that I know alot of costumers are using is this one...
With these adaptaions....
Vogue 7412 (Women's Mandarin Tunics) Use view A for Strider's duster or jerkin; adapt the collars and the length; and remember to slit the center back up to the waist (sides are already slit). Be careful with this as the pattern uses no CB seam, you may have to create one if you are using leather. While this pattern has no darts or other "feminine shaping" and so should work also for men.
heres a great website im making an aragorn costume as well ill post pics when im done with it you have to 2 lotr aragorn costume options :fightyou:
thanks for that link, but i already know alleycatscratch, they`re the number one if you need any pics or inspiration !
my jerkin is still not finished, too much work for school at the moment ....
Well, I basically improvised. I found a vest at Goodwill with a suede front. I replaced the buttons with leather strips. It's obviously not long enough, and not quite the right shape, but it works for me.
thats all that really count, as long as your happy with it, it works
i finally finished my jerkin and i`m really glad with it !
i`ll post some pics tomorrow, i`m just too tired to put on my chainmaille at the moment ...
