I feel severely deprived, never having read any manga before, but I'm hoping to start as soon as possible on Death Note as I absolutely adored the anime series up till episode 25 at which point my heart broke and I could go no further with it *suppressed sob* :(

Otherwise, anime I've watched include Death Note (of course :) ), some Miyazaki stuff, Samurai Champloo, Yami No Matsuei and Loveless. I know, complete amateur, right?

Oh, and I watched the first episode of Bleach once...^.^'

I didn't particularly like DN. It was ok for about 2/3's of it, and then it sucked. Ending was pretty lame aswell.

Samurai Champloo is too awesome....such a great intro song >_<

Well, I can see there are a lot of pages and I don't want to go through them all so I'll list some of the less well-known anime and manga I've read! And they all happen to fall within my top 5.

    3 excellent anime:
    Clannad

This is one of few animes...possibly the only anime, that has made me cry. It's truly touching, and A LOT better than its successor After Story. It's full of humour, emotion, has a vast number of great characters with their own arcs... It's just well worth the watch!
    Elfen Lied
Despite being 13 episodes long, this anime manages to touch a lot of deep and dark subjects: death, betrayal, love/hate, loss, seclusion, jealousy. And it does it all well! I don't really want to give anything away so I'll leave it at that.
    Kanon
Made by the same people as Clannad (and also based on a video game; I didn't mention that Clannad was), this anime also uses the arcs. I wouldn't say its done as well, as I didn't cry at all and didn't feel as close to the characters, yet its story is somewhat more interesting because it feels more mystical and surreal. Watch it!

    3 excellent manga:
    Fushigi Yugi

Great (up until book 14). Possibly my favourite manga. It's fast paced, original (to an extent), the characters are all amazing! They're believable; there are a number who are incredibly lovable.
    Immortal Rain
I can't believe how few manga fans out there have read this! I've heard it's a little like Trigun (the main character is apparently similar and there's some focus on the fact bounty-hunters are after his immortality). There are a lot of heart-wrenching moments, and some fun ones too.
    A.I. Love You
Much like a cross between Chobits and Ah! My Goddess, really. The characters are closer to those in Ah! My Goddess, with the length being more similar to chobits. Yet it's unique as well. Well worth a read! It'll make you smile, perhaps laugh, and, at times, it could make some of you cry.

Oh man, that is so true. The action is badass and the comedy is just too amazing. Just love the abuse from the sensei's.

Lirael: If that made you cry then Grave of the Fireflies will make you weep for 2 days.
