Yeah, you might very well have grasped the point there.

I think it's good, but I don't know how much you can use that information for anything ;o) It's really cute, I think the best word to describe it is just 'girly', and it's pretty well drawn.

I thought I'd add to my list, since I've seen a few more things:

Grave of the Fireflies-EVERYONE needs to see this movie, whether they like anime or not. If you live anywhere on this planet (or on any other planet, for that matter), see this movie. Its very sad, but it shows the horrors of war.
    Rizelmine-wierd. Not really my taste.
My Neighbor Totoro-Miyazaki. Probably his film with the youngest overall target audience.
FLCL-only one episode, kind of confusing, but I've heard the entire series is that way.
Interstella 5555-basically an hour-long Daft Punk music video. That said, pretty good. The story is coherent, even without dialogue.
Also, just so none of you are confused, Jungle Wa Itsumo Hare Nochi Guu is being marketed in this country as Hare + Guu. I knew the original title first, so that is what it shall always be in my mind. We are watching it as our running series this quarter, and I love it more and more with every episode.

Also, not anime but an adaptation of an anime from the 70's, the live action Casshern. I still have not been able to form an opinion on it, though generally I like it. It's got some really great special effects (for anyone who saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, this was done in a similar manner. There were very few scenes not shot against a greenscreen), and some pretty Japanese guys. To warn you, though, it is two and a half hours long and a total mind-frag. Seriously, your brain will probably be running out your ears by the end. But its good, really.

How did I know you were into Death Note ;) My friend cosplayed L a few months ago and I just got the first volume (in English and Japanese). Pretty good.

I've also got another to add to my list:
Haibane Renmei-the first few episodes. Pretty good, I'm interested in seeing the rest of it.

MEEEP! I have found my brethren!!!

    Mangas I have read:

Rurouni Kenshin--In case you can't tell, I'm obsessed. Very much so. Finished all the manga.
Fruits Basket--Another favorite. Currently on volume 17
YuYu Hakusho--currently on volume 12 or 13...I cant remember
Love Hina--almost done, on volume 13 right now.
InuYasha--a classic! Currenly on volume 23.
    Bleach--currenly on volume 19. w00t!
    Yu-Gi-Oh!--currently on volume 5...sadly.....

Animes I have seen (I no longer watch dubbed anime):

Rurouni Kenshin--Currently on the Shishio arc, right before Kenshin starts fighting Shishio.
Fruits Basket--Almost done, currently on the second to the last episode.
InuYasha--Meh, just watch it on [adult_swim]...but I've stopped, the english annoys me.
Cheeky Angel--HAHAHAHAHAHA! Just saw the first episode, but I'm dying to continue it. Didn't like the art all too much, but the story line is hilarious!
Elfin Lied--Again, only saw the first episode, but OOOOH MAN! I can't wait to continue it...but in Japanese w/ subbs, rather than dubbed. I'm gonna start over.
Shamanic Princess--Not too many people I've talked to have heard of it, but it's really quite good. Intricate plot and stuff. Only saw it in english, so I'm looking for it in Japanese.
MAZE--again, only in english. Good plot, but now I'm looking for it in Japanese.
Yu-Gi-Oh!--I'm looking for it in Japanese, but I WILL watch it in english.
Full Metal Alchemist--again, looking for it in Japanese.

Kaoru: buy DVDs. For the most part, a Japanese language track is standard on DVD releases now.

So, since its been a really long time since anyone has updated here, I thought I'd add to my list. I haven't seen as much new stuff because I've been too busy to attend JMAC meetings this quarter, but I do still have a few things to add and to update.

First off, another live action film: Tampopo- the overlying plot of this film involves two truck drivers helping a woman turn her mediocre ramen stand into a great ramen stand. It is a little strange, but its not bad. How can you hate a movie with a musical hobo number? Its also go thtese wierd interludes every once in a while that have nothing to do with the plot. A warning, though, one does involve food sex. None of us knew ahead of time, so it was like wtf?

Now to the anime: X- the series, not the film, which I've heard is terrible. I've only seen the first episode, but I must say I'm intrigued. This was my first real experience with CLAMP, and I'm impressed.
Bleach- At first I though it wasn't really my thing, but now I'm really interested in seeing more, even though I've still only seen two episodes. dunno, looks interesting.
Keroro Gunso/Sgt. Frog- just as cute as the manga, I love it.
Card Captor Sakura- more CLAMP. This is the anime that we Americans destroyed turning it into Cardcaptors. I might have found it appealing if I were younger, but for now its just too cute-stereotypical-magical-girl anime for me. Theres a feature at the end thats pretty much a cosplayers dream though.

I've also seen more of Gilgamesh since I bought the first volume at ACen. Five episodes so far, and I'm definitely enjoying it.

If you guys count OEL (original english language) webcomics I've been reading a couple good ones that are drawn manga style. The first is Megatokyo, which you all probably know already. I read all 800 some episodes in a week a couple of weeks ago, and now I'm just following what happens. Quite enjoyable.
The other I've been reading is Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire. I'm really enjoying this one, it's very good. It starts out very light, but the most recent couple of story arcs have been pretty dark and even deep. This one is a daily, which is a plus. I highly recommend it.

    Heelooo!!!

    Anybody out there?

I've managed, in this third world country at the bottom of Africa (which I love) to see:

    Berserk
    Cowboy Bebop
    Rurouni Kenshin
    Bleach
    Gunslinger Girls
    Full Metal Panic
    Gun Parade Martch
    Witch hunter Robin
    Gundam Seed + Destiny

I've read the manga for Berserk, but as hard as it is to find Anime it's worse to find manga.

I hate the dubbed stuff, they always get it wrong. Me I read the sub titles.

Umm, perhaps a better question would be has anyone not heard of it. Rurouni Kenshin is really popular, at least in the US. It was on Cartoon Network (can't remember if it was Toonami or Adult Swim proper) for a really long time. I've seen a bunch of random episodes and read the first volume of the manga. There are 20 or 30 some volumes of manga released here so far.

Don't worry about it, it just seemed a little amusing to me because it was so prevalent here for a really long time. Even when I was just starting to get into anime a couple of years ago I knew about it.

    This is an easy one.
    Manga I've read
    Battle Angel (gunnm) vol 1.

Anime I've seen is much longer and I am pretty lazy so I am not going to type it out.

If that avatar is what I think it is, its totally awesome.

I need to update my lists, but I think I'm going to wait a week or so because I got a ton of stuff from the library and I'm going to wait until I've finished it so I don't have to update again for a while.
