Sparrow's ignorance concerning the Golden Dawn? Or were you reffering to his flame-comment? If you mean the former: that's how the world sees that party (and I think that's how they see themselves?). If you mean the latter, just ignore it. :)

The flame comment obviously since Golden Dawn has a big number of members who are sympathetic or at least not against the National-Socialist movement of yore. But many prefer the Metaxas regime of the 1930s in Greece.

Well, I couldn't be sure about that. Sometimes national media/flow of information differs from international media so you get completely different points of view. :)

You know, I think Elder Pastitsios proved Greece is not exactly singularly minded about the issue here. I think the questions regarding the role of religion - specifically the Orthodoxy - in Greek society and politics need to be asked right now. And, whatever the outcome is, it is going to upset a lot of people.

The Weimar republic was not - primerally - about the NSDAP. The Weimar republic was a precarious political situation during the worst economic crisis Europe has seen in the 20'th century. During which, there was a lot of violence and chaos. And a political move to the flanks (communism, fascism). There were militias. Angry protests. Disillusion. And a complete lack of hope. That all culminated in Hitlers rise to power, but might as well have ended with a communist outcome.

I don't think that Greece is at the point it has (or has to be) the failed state the Weimar republic has become. But the success of parties like Golden Dawn, SYRIZA and the KKE could be interpreted as early signs. Likewise these skirmishes around rather insignificant events, that are blown out of proportion.

Dude I mentioned the Golden Dawn when you said about the Weimar Republic and all because we all know the NSDAP found the chance to climb up during that time period in Germany.

Don't mention that buffoon who caused the uproar about the "Elder Pastitsios" profile.Mostly because the left-wing parties have power and most of the media are left-wing.

To be honest I didn't expect him to be arrested, but I am 100% against suchs "jokes".Because Elder Paisios is a very loved person in Greece,a modern Saint.
The ones who mock religion and persons considered holy or important in my country by the people are usually anarchists or Syriza followers.

That is,mostly the Radical left, with a part being KKE as well.

I think the show should have been allowed and not banned. Portraying the Lord as homosexual is hilarious in my books. Was the play a comedy? I would see that.

I personally love it when theatre, movies or TV shows parody religion. I once watched a movie where God was portrayed as a slightly air-headed woman. It was awesome.
