Okay this hasnt been thought through very well but its an idea i had for a story thats fkinda fantasy.

basically its a mix between fantasy and sci fi.

we have a prmitive planet with a medieval culture, many nations warring over differences, both geographical, religious and such, your average primitive cesspit.

then for some reason or another (crash landing im thinking) a group of people from an advanced space faring culture end up on this planet.

torn between not disturbing the balance on the planet and trying to find a way off it they end up venturing into the midst of all the conflict. And while some member try as they might to stay inconspicious to prevent unwanted consequences of their discovery, we have other members who decide they can use their intellectual ad technological advances to help them. (I.E. either pose as gods or form their own nations and such).

its an idea that might be good i though.

Wit a bit of polish, It could get pretty great.
Here are my two pennies into it: Why have only one alien specie stranded?? Why not make them be surrvivers from the great battle between multiple races? That way, u have purely evil, mysterious and unknown how alighned, the arogant to-godders, the wise, etc...
    If u catch my drift.

    yes indeed i do.

i was thinking one race because if its just one ship that crashes or some other thing, then the outsiders all know eachother in general so it may make more of a kinship between them, andif its just an insignificant primitive planet then one side would care less if the others decided to be gods.

on the other hand though, if its muliple races and ships then the combined resources of he outsiders should be enough to make/fix a ship in order to get away, but with the opposing sides they have to take them by force making it even more important to gain power on this planet in order to get what they need as the ultimate goal.

there, work done already, i like where this is going, maybe we can cultivate this into a working idea soon enough.

OR you could stick with your original idea, one race stranded. The pressure of trying to make things move forward in their effort to get off the planet could possibly lead to internal war?
This group of 'aliens' then split. 2 ways? 3 ways? whatever. From there can come the battle for the running of this new planet they have found, along with it's creatures.

    Just an idea :)

Let's not forget the humans, they might be aware that a ship just crashed into their planet suddenly. If they were aware of the situation, naturally they'd want the top militaries to annihilate the aliens, so the aliens who don't want to have anything to do with the planet (the good side) would have some problem because they're being wiped out despite not harming the people, and it's really hard for them to convince the humans that they aren't set out to kill them but some others are.. It'd be especially harder for the good aliens (and makes the story more interesting) if there's only one race so they all look alike and there's no telling who's good and who's not.

Jnee, u forget that this should be a primitive planet.

Another thought of me towards my first suggestion.
How about having the need for pretty unique need of energy needed to power up the ships, and, there are no left after the crash, and no possibilitty of salvaging it from the other ships, but the planet has certain amount of resources nedeed to create it.

a possibilty that could work for any aspect of the idea.

and jnanee, so far we dont know who is human and who isnt, basically its still in the ideas phase so we could have the outsiders as the humans on an alien world or vice versa, or both are humans or not.

i think as this is a cross pollination of two sepearte themes, fantasy and sci fi, it might be good as having the primitive planet as a multi race planted with elf like creatures and humans and so on, the outsiders can be human or they can be an alien race, it depends how it goes.

if the primitive planet is going to resemble a fantasy world we're going to have to decide whether it has magic, which would be in sync with a fantasy world but it may offset the technological advantage of the outsiders. i just thought it put that up for debate, i want this RPg to fit the needs of everyone.

okay people elts develop this further and get it on the road, i just remembered ym character from the failed futuristic rpg and thought he might fit in well here and as this starts out as a futuristic setting it mightas well be in a same universe, but that really is of no consequence ofr anything else as the majority of this RPG will be based on the primitive world.

Perhaps you could have all of the modern wepons, engines, etc. destroyed by some type of energy release during the crash. That would leave the newcomers with superior knowledge, but not in a god like position.

that might work for some, but for the real dramatics we need one or two people playing god, and theycant really do that without some technology to put themselves ahead of the local inhabitants and scare the crap outta them. knowledge alone could be enough to secure high positions after time, but can do little more than that.

Not necesarily, U could have them keep a few, I don't know, Supper-powerd laser hand-cannons, portable cloaking shields, portable shield generators, etc...
Or, with my multi-racial system u could heave some aliens with skin so tough that no cold weapon, or primitive firearm, could breach, and rather high magic, if there is any, resistance, other to be telephatical race, the tird to be capable of generating high powerage electrical bolts in electrical ell style, etc...

Either way, there could be god-emulators without most of the high tech equipment.

interesting. yes i suppose we can have god emulatioon without a lot of high class technology. but i think the ultimate purpose for the RPG is for the newcomers to try and escape and to harvest whatever of their technology is left in order to salvage a ship, which mean i dunno, engine parts, circuitry, scanning devices. And a few weapons (if we go with HSR's this may be the survivors of a devestating battle, theres bound to be some high power weaponry left over if anything). In either case the technology will be scattered, each member of the survivors wll have some part of it and all of it is needed to fix the only salvagable ship (lets say that one crashed in the middle of nowhere, so no locals tearing it apart). Some part would come from falling debris and may be in possesion of the locals so thats another 'quest' to complete.

i tink its a good idea to have race attributes to the survivors, which will help them in this new setting, and it may also help some addopt the role of gods or heros from prophecies or whatever (the local religions describe their gods as the same as one character etc)

Okay, i would like to get the ball rolling on this, ive had quite a few little ideas about my character that have been disrupting my concentration in lectures so its best i get them down eventually.

So with you help im hopefully going to start contructing the storyline from what we've got so far.

So i like HSR's battle surviving idea, it has all the potential of the others only we can have numerous groups instead of just one, and it doesnt just restrict these groups to themselves. Faced with survival on a primitive world, some might see the enemies from their battle as the likely victors of the race to escape the world, and would forgoe their rivalry for the sake of survival and so on.

you get my drift, this is far from the battleground where they faced eachother, all bets are off and in some cases the enemies may be forced to work together, but not before they have some fun. plus theres likely going to be the kind of maniacle madmen who relish this oportunity to gain their own power and glory and so on.

So first off we have a large space battle at the edge of the galaxy, one armada was trying to bypass the other sides defences and failed. the two sides, as ive decided this is going to be in the same universe as RPG4, is going to be the USC, who are basically the main governing/policing force for this and a few other galaxies, theyre not an oppressive power, but they seek unilateral control for the benefit of everyone (supposedly) although theres bound to be some corruption. anyway thats besides the point. Lets say a group of planets and such form an allianc ein order to take over USC controlled worlds for their own gain (im trying to work away from the 'invading aline' stereotypes, these are just greedy planets, and maybe their soldiers are conscripted or whatnot). the resulting war is mainly focused in this galaxy and as the USC fleet moves into place to attack they are assaulted by the oppsing force (if anyone cares to make up this force and their background have a go). and we end up in one mother of a space battle. the mega cool kind.

While the main force of attack is between the large weapons of the capital ships and their small fighters, a large nuumber of smaller craft have either been recruited, conscripted or hired to take part. Several of these craft will be the main focus of our RPG.

the provisional iea is one breaks away from combat to flee (probably a conscripted ship) and is persued by the enemy. some fighters from the same side persue aswell (to punish tr****rs). in the run they are drawn into a fihgt and eventually theyre chased into the atmosphere of a planet not too far from the battle (far enough away that theyre the only ones other than a bit of debris from the battle to get there). So they all crash somehow and all end up there.

lots of potential, we can have the two sides, we can also have the self righeous people trying to execute the others for deserting etc.

    any comments/suggestions/additions?

I might give a shot on oposing armada thingy.
That is if I find time, and If my prowider stops f**king me around.
And, there is still the fact that I'm not privy to rp 4 seting, so I might make some unaceptibilities, or missies, but WtH with that. :balrog:

Nah dont sweat it, RPG 4 died pretty quickly, basically the only precepts were the USC and othe rplot related things with dont really affect this one. basically it was meant to be based on one planet, and there was also some conspiracy stuff we can ignore.

the only thing to note i think was a particular point in space, due to the gravity of the galaxies and black holes, space was curved in a particular fasion so that to get from point A to point B in a straight line would usually end up passing through this place, regarless of the coordinates of point A or B. of course you could avoid it, but the straight lone on the curves of space meant it was the fastest route to anywhere and thus the hub of most space-traffic and happenings.

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any ideas to contribute at the moment (sorry, finals around the corner, so am pretty preoccupied) but this seems like a great idea and I've always been drawn to futuristic stuff, so I'll participate in this RPG if it gets to the Elysium.

I see you people have drawn out a prologue of sorts, looks pretty good at the moment so no suggestions on my part.

I said something about the primitive beings' reactions to the aliens landing on the planet so that there's some complication created by the confusion that results, like HSR said the aliens could have properties like shape-shifting and that'll make the primitive people scared out of their wits. The RPG wouldn't be very exciting after a while if the story just stays at the primitive beings worshipping the aliens, so maybe somewhere in the story a bunch of doubtful beings (probably by using magic) find out that the aliens are not their real gods or something (that's where the complication starts) and might not be so helpful in the alien's quest to salvage the parts of the ship (I remember Crusader saying something about some machine parts being with locals). This is just a suggestion which came to me as I was typing this, sorry if it's half-baked.

No tis all good. The idea with posing as gods can be worked at many levels, you can have some finsing out the truth and the problems that result, and other things. One idea i had was a prophecy like happenings and the survivors trying, or inadvertantly fulfilling these peoples prophecies in order to gain prestige. the starting sicgn could be 'fire from the sky' as an omen or something. and that can just translate to the crahsing ships and debris from the battle above.

we can have doubters, but i think an intersint factor would be the structurng of the primitive religion, and youcan have two different deities fighting for the parts they need and such, either way it wont be easy.

I had a good idea that my character might end up being mistaken, not for a god, but either the devil or the primitives idea of 'death' because he is a real badass.

also because he is heavily biologically and technologically augmented, making him a kind of super soldier, ive decided in the crash some of his internal systems get damaged, so instead of trying to find parts to escape the planet, he needs them to live. Plus theres the added factor that he is a freelancer (probably for the opposing forces) and thus will probably be after another character, that can either be one of you, ro i can make up a second one.

What do u think of a sort of space pirate aliance fleet, instead of the oposing armada? But, not just a ragtag groups, but an organized order with it's own honor codex and such. That would give us the wide wariety of races to play with, and vast moral fields open - from lowlife bandits, to sort of a space knights, to the greedy but powerfull ship captains and such. It would also be an exelat field for inner disputes, plots, etc...

I love it, straight away from the invading alien stereotype and with good prospects for characters and such.

develop it however you wish and we'll put itinto the context of the RPG and start getting the first post written up when we can.
