    Re: Lackey anyone???

Oooh, I have! It's good to see another Valdemar fan. ;) At the moment, Misty's my 3rd fav author, and I've read through every single one of her Valdemar books, as well as some of her other books. However, I have to say that other than her Diana Tregarde books, I didn't like them as much as I enjoyed her Valdemar books. I have all of them, as well as the Valdemar Companion and both of her fanfic anthologies.

So... let's start chatting! Who was your fav character(s)? I personally loved Tarma, Kerowyn, Alberich, Skandranon, and Vanyel.

    Re: Lackey anyone???

^-^ For my fav characters, look at my previous post. :)

I did read the first book of her Elemental Masters series, but frankly, they just didn't grab my attention the way her Valdemar books did.

    Let's start some trivia/guess this quote! :)

To start off with a nice, easy one, name at least 3 different Tayledras/Hawkbrother clans.

Moondance k'Treva from "Magic's Pawn," speaking of Vanyel. :)

What was the name of Idra's Second in her company the Sunhawks?

    Mercedes Lackey - Valdemar

Has anyone read books of the Valdemar series? I like her books, but have only read the stand alone novels (ie: Firebird) so I'm wondering if the Tales of Valdemar are any good and worth looking into.

    Re: Mercedes Lackey - Valdemar

Have every single one, unless she published one in 2006, which I doubt. It's pretty good stuff. I don't recommend that you buy them (I did, but that was before I discovered authors like GRRM, Sara Douglass, Neil Gaiman, and Robin Hobb), but if your library has them, I can recommend the series. :)

I think I'll try the series out :) thanks!

I think she's taking a break from Valdemar it supposedly says so on her website.

    Re: Mercedes Lackey - Valdemar

Ah, I see. I did enjoy her other books as well - the Halfblood Chronicles for one, and her Diana Tregarde series, which she will unfortunately not be continuing. I've just started on her Elemental Masters series, and so far, they seem interesting. :)

Are you refering to the Herald series'? With Vaniel and the Herald-Mages etc? I really enjoyed those ones.

Yep, that one - that's the "Last-Herald Mage" trilogy, one of the better ones, IMO.

aren't there several trilogies all wrapped up in the "valdemar tales" or something like that?

What do you mean by that? If you want, I can give you a list of all the Valdemar books she's written, though.

    Re: Mercedes Lackey - Valdemar

That is the BEST fantasy series in my opinion. She's a brilliant writer. I'm partial to the Arrows of the Queen trilogy because it was the first one I read. Magic, horses, battles - everything you want in a book. A definite MUST-READ!

isn't the arrows of the queen trilogy the first one you're supposed to read according to her website?

    Re: Mercedes Lackey - Valdemar

It's the first series she wrote, but I went way out of order. Started out with the Mage Storms trilogy, then read Kerowyn's Ride, and then... yeah. :p

can you read out of order? or do you have to start from beginning to end? does she give background info in the first few chapters?
