The only good thing about doing an asoiaf RPG is that most people who regularly post in that topic are actually around. Not just those who post and leave. Yknow?

Lol, Turin.... #9's still alive, unlike 5 and 7. And speaking of which, I'm still waiting for you to post in #7.

Yeah, I'm trying to revive this thread again. I'm not giving up. ;)

We do have some new aSoIaF people here, and maybe (if the mods say we can, anyway) we can post this thread in the aSoIaF section as well. I think that a RPG set in Westeros would be great.

Count me in too! I'm afraid I'm very new to the books however. I've only just finished a Game of Thrones.

The problem is that we need to come up with a time period and area we can set the RPG in.

So far, we have 10 people who are/might be interested in joining: Me (LDH), Elan, Sorcha, Unraveller, Turin, Adina, Senekha, Morgan_of_Salerone, Turgon883, and Ilaelin. It's enough people to start something off with, I guess, so it's brainstorming time. Where could we set this? The Wall?

To be honest I'm no help, I'm still kind of new to all of this so whereever, everyone decides is fine with me.

The Wall seems fine to me, it's more just a question of when it should take place.

There's another idea I had - what about when the first Aegon conquered Westeros? It doesn't have too many specifics we'd have to work under, and wouldn't contain spoilers for those who haven't read the series.

I'm going to start PMing people in a couple of weeks if I don't get any help with this... ;)

Maybe we need a reminder post in the ASoIaF section. But let me know and I'll help where I can! :D

    Yay, thanks Ilaelin! :)

Mathias, we'll definitely have you. More people the better. :D

OK, we have several choices here:

    1) The battle at the Trident/Robert’s Rebellion (The Battle at the Ruby Ford, Siege of Storm’s End)
    2) Beginning of GoT
    3) Balon Greyjoy’s Rebellion
    4) The Wall, at some random point, with the Night’s Watch going ranging against the Wildlings, etc.
    5) When Aegon I conquered Westeros

I'm favoring #5, because that way we don't have too many spoilers, and won't run into complications twisting the RPG to fit the text.

I think that number 5 is prolly the best... i agree about the spoilers however i feel that the noble houses werent really set up as much then so it might take a little away from the feeling of the ASoIaF world. This might be a problem we have to deal with however. number 4 (wildling and the wall) offers a good opertunity for some D&D style monster hunting which is what a lot of people are looking for in an RPG, with this style we would need a definate rules system but if we dont get caught up in rules and systems too much we could be looking at some good Role Play oppertunities. I'm not so much a fan of the other choices as there is a set story and a set way thing will have to run, a canon if you will, players may feel that they are getting swept along in the story rather than taking part, or feel that all there work was for nothing when their Greyjoy player fails at the rebbellion or their Tagaryen falls defending the trident from another players Baratheon. Another thing to consider is will we be playing Nobles or small folk. the pen and paper GOT RPG has a system were characters from houses get balanced against small folk. A level one form the house of stark for instance is the same as a level four small folk.

OK, just for our new RPG people :):

The RPG system at TFF is probably a little different than what you're used to. This is text-based, which is to say that we write up "posts." The best way I can explain it is that it's kind of like the 3 word story, except we post a lot more than 3 words (preferably 500 or so). Each player in the RPG creates a character profile (no levels/numerical stats, just describe personality, appearance, and history), and write posts on that character. You might want to check out some of the other RPGs here and learn some more about how we do it.

In a few days, I'll be PMing everyone who showed an interest in joining the aSoIaF RPG, asking them to come and state their preferences/opinions about the choices.

At the right hand corner of the window, there's something called "Private Messages: Unread". Click on that, and it'll show you your unread PMs.

I'll do it tomorrow, as AOL is being mean and knocks me offline about every 5 minutes, but I'll try right now anyway.

    Apparently it worked :p

Well...I am almost done with exams. Which means I will have 3 weeks to post nonstop YAY. The problem is I don't really know the plot to all the books, as I've not finished the last two. Soooommyeah. If there's something crucial in those, I don't know it. lol. It depends on whether I can catch up in the other RPG's I'm in also.

I'm interested, just swamped with work. (and psycological breakdowns...:() But if one does begin, I'm in.

I'd vote for when Robert starts the rebellion.
