Hi! I am a big Tolkien fan, and I would really to know more about him. But they are so many books about him that`s hard for me to decided witch book I should read. I would like to know more about his work, for example what motivated him and witch chapters where harder for him to write than other and why? I would also like to know more about Inkling and T.C.B.S. And perhaps a little about the war and his life.

    Thanks for your help!

Tom Shippey's two books are a good starting place: The Road to Middle Earth and J. R. R. Tolkien: Author of the Century. Also, Walking-Tree Publications publish a quite a few scholarly books on Tolkien - perhaps you could check them out? Here's their website: http://www.walking-tree.org/. I just bought two of their books about the relationship between Tolkien and Wagner.
