Re: Dragonlance Movie
There's nobody really 'thin' enough to cast as Raistlin, but I think J.I would be able to pull it off more than anyone else I can think of.
Ok lets think on this a little lighter. Instead of who fits the role in terms of what their capabilities are and such, who would you LIKE to see in the lead roles?

Re: Dragonlance Movie
That's an easy one. I can't off the top of my head name anyone, but he'd be pretty easy to cast. All you'd need is someone old that looks confused hehehe

Re: Dragonlance Movie
You are absoultly right, anyone who worked on the D&D movie, needs to stay the hell away from the Dragonlance movie. They need to do them like the Lord of the Rings movies, one movie= one book. I think if they do the movies right, the Dragonlance movies will blow the LOTR movies right out of the water. The one thing that I am worried about is who the pick to play Raistlin. He and Caramon are two pivotal characters( not to say the anything bad about Flint, Tanis, Sturm, Riverwind,Goldmoon, Gilthas, Kitara, Dalamar, or any of the other great characters) but these two stand out in my mind as the characters that carry on the story(See legends books) and they need to make a smart choice when casting.

Re: Dragonlance Movie
Yeah I would have to agree with you Dark Magius...I wonder who they would cast as Raistlin...he is a very complex guy with a certain personality which should be reflected in the actor as well!!!! And we wouldn't want Raistlin's name being tarnished with a bad actor if he is not portrayed properly!!!!! But a dragonlance movie would be awesome

I think if they tried to make a whole movie out of each book, it will suffer greatly. They will be hard pressed to fill in the gaps. Especially in the Legends trilogy. The books are small enough to read in one day.

Re: Dragonlance Movie
they would have to have a prologue at the beginning like they did in LOTR. that way they can explain how the gods left Krynn and all that.

Re: Dragonlance Movie
What if they had a bard in the Inn of Last Home tell the story? that way they wouldnt be repeating LOTR...

Re: Dragonlance Movie
Actually that's a magnificent idea. Well thought of. The only problem with that is, we aren't supposed to know the details of why the Gods left Krynn until later. If a bard or someone tells the story of how the God's abandoned Krynn, it would be full of holes and half truths considering the God's never abandoned Krynn at all.
I think it was told in pieces for a good reason. Not to mention that DL is a fairly easy read, it doesn't really NEED a prologue at all.

Re: Dragonlance Movie
but Weis and Hickman took care to explain things in the middle. with a movie it'll be harder to do that. they mention the Cataclysam (dont think I spelled that right) in almost every book.
but it's a good idea to have someone tell the story instead of copying LOTR. they could have Fizban/old man explain it to the children at the Inn, and use images to accompany his words.

Re: Dragonlance Movie
I think they might have a hard time doing 'Solace' to be what we imagine it from the books. They would have to tread very lightly I think in the making of sets etc.
And I can picture Draconians being rather difficult too. They'd probably end up looking too much like aliens.

Re: Dragonlance Movie
I think using a relatively new cast of actors may do some justice to this movie. By doing this, we will not have any preconceived ideas of past movies or characters they were once tied to. Granted, we would cringe at the sight of campy or overdramatic actors, but I am sure with the right guidance, this may be a great direction to follow. I would admit that Jason Isaacs would be a good man for Raistlin, but I feel he is a bit too old for the job. Raistlin during the War of the Lance was in his mid 20s, no?

Re: Dragonlance Movie
That is correct Exigent. However, Raist was extremely frail etc. I think an older casting for him would work better than younger. Especially what make-up can do these days.
