It's said that all dual-bladed lightsabers are not very practical, often more dangerous to its wielder, then to their opponents. But it's as practical as Maul's I would say. Here's an image of a replica:

well it just means the range is shorter because being curved would make them shorter, thats all, I don't really see anything impractical about them lol.
