High Elven King Sword by AoV
Okay, folks. I saw this one, and am intrigued. What do we all think? I'd especially like to hear from those who know the works of AoV and who know a thing or two about 'Battle Ready' swords.
Now I'm not exactly the largest BBB fan. But I don't know if AoV themselves will make it available or not. It has yet to be posted on their site from what I see. So thoughts and suggestions, questions or comments in that area would be well appreciated too!

hm...
I've seen this before, but I don't remember where ![]() I personally don't really like it, mainly because of the wire wrap in the scabbard.

Wait, if that is supposed to be Fingolfin's sword, wouldn't that make it Ringil, sword of Fingolfin?

I'm with you on this one Jesse, I just don't like that wire wrap - and there was another thread about this sword somewhere...

Was there? I'm sorry...I looked, and didn't see one. Must have searched improperly. By bad.

Re: High Elven King Sword by AoV
It was posted before but quite a while ago, and I did a quick search and couldn't find it so no harm done Jeremiah :-)
As I said in the original thread, I don't mind the sword, I quite like the detail on the pommel and crossguard, but oerall it's just a bit plain for my liking. The blade is a bit blah in comparison to the lovely fittings. And the wire wrapping on the tube-looking scabbard looks terrible imho. Mind you, if someone is a fan of it, $250 for a functional sword and scabbard is pretty good. Look around, you might be able to find a slightly better price.

Re: High Elven King Sword by AoV
This is a blade produced by Arms of Valor. Originally, they had produced it as Anglechel, the black sword mentioned in The Silmarillion. I had been looking at it, drooling over it, etc. for some time. Then a couple weeks/months back they removed it from their website. A week or so after that they listed Ringil - same design without the blackened blade. It's still a lovely piece, but I think for Ringil it's a bit plain. For Anglachel it was a beautiful blade. But that's just my opinion.

Re: High Elven King Sword by AoV
That's an interesting bit of info, Vagaran...hmm...
I like the overall designof the sword...and for whatever reason, the scabbard wire design doesn't bother me a bit. I rather like it, as it makes it quite uniform with the hilt. Anyway, what attracted me to it, was the overall design combined with the price. It's quite a good price for a fully functional sword... Does anyone know anything about reliability of AoV swords? That's something I was particularly interested in. You know, the old saying..."If it sounds too good to be true..." I don't need the blade loosening up and falling off or something... And, CB, do you know if you will be able to offer this piece?

Re: High Elven King Sword by AoV
For once we actually get to see a straight "elven" sword, though for being Fingolfins sword it's not very adorned... after all he were the overall king of all Elves.. And I also don't like the spiral pattern on the sheet..

Overall king or the Noldor, not of all elves, that would be the god Manwe.
