Possible scam?
Is anyone else aware of being able to buy the mini UC LOTR blades (with the 'stone effect' bases to stand them in) without the base? I ask because I have come across someone on ebay who is supposedly selling a UC miniature without its' base.

Re: Possible scam?
This is strange, indeed. Comparable, I have found a (German) dealer in UC LoTR swords, with different (ugly) wall-plaques, a while ago. They have seemed to stop their activities, after I asked UC whether they sold swords without plaques...

Re: Possible scam?
Interesting - the dimensions match the UC mini exactly (although they could have been taken from anywhere) - here is the link if you are interested:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEBWA:IT I have mailed the seller to ask them why it doesn't come with the base, and will let you know the reply.

Re: Possible scam?
I think the answer must be that UC has introduced yet another line of swords, the 1 to 3 scaled models. The models fixed in stone are 1 to 5.

Re: Possible scam?
Indeed, it seems that the measurements of the miniature as we know it is 1/3rd of the original; 22" devide by 6 7/8" is about 3 (measurements form BBB website) How I came to 1 to 5, I don't know.

Re: Possible scam?
Turns out you can buy a whole range of UC minis without the bases - had no idea these were available!

Re: Possible scam?
Durthang, I had the same thing. Bought a mini Sting and it came on a card without the base. I heard these were released by UC to make it more affordable. The card said it was UC. thats all I know.
My mini Glamdring is 1/5 scale. As far as I am aware the Sting miniature alone was 1/3 scale and this was to do with replicating the detail on the blade, as it is smaller than the other swords to start with. Last edited by Hiraeth; 04-28-2004 at 06:55 AM. |
