A Prologue to The Lion, The Witch, The Wardrobe - PG Rated.

Disclaimer: These characters aren't mine, they all belong to C S Lewis.

A Prologue to The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Aslan was troubled as he paced back and forth in his own country; he had just seen the troubles of Narnia. The Evil had begun its work. She had made sure that his beautiful Narnia was soiled with blood, and war. Many of his beloved subjects had died; including his favourite faun; Mr Tumnus. He still grieved the death of the Faun. Not one of them had entered his country, Jadis had turned her victims into stone, it was a sure fire way to make sure they could not be with Aslan at all.

He had decided he had better do something to make sure his subjects were able to stay alive in the harsh circumstances that would be their future. He bowed his golden head with sorrow. He wished he could go there now and sort things out before it got too out of hand. But he couldn’t. He knew that the children were being born. So far there were only two, a son of Adam and a Daughter of Eve, but the prophecy relied on two more children to come to birth.

He sighed as he thought of a way to feed his subjects. He had to make a short visit to Narnia to talk to the good trees. They could send the message around. He decided to do just that. He looked at the pool that showed him his paradise and growled the name of the Queen.

He disappeared to Narnia through the method of transportation. He landed on the soft fertile earth near The Stone Table. He read the etchings carved deeply into the stone. He interpreted its meaning clearly.

He sighed, and padded his way carefully to the trees. He breathed on the Oak trees. Three manly forms were made with their orange and red leaves. One looked stronger than the other two and he wore an acorn crown around his head.

“Aslan,” the Oak King said, as he bowed.

“Oberon,” Aslan growled. “Harsh and difficult times are ahead for all Narnian subjects. Make sure that all animals gather enough food to keep them alive for a very long time. I do not know how much longer the two sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve are likely to be but tell all subjects to gather for at least a hundred years.”

“My Lord and King, can you not do something to prevent this?”
“Whatever has to pass shall pass unmolested, and untouched. Jadis has to make her move before I can. Narnia has to suffer for a while before I can step in. It will be a trial to your faith, and it will test all your limitations. Some of you will betray me for her, but I am expecting that.”

“Make sure you know that I am steadfast in my faith of you dear Aslan!” Oberon exclaimed.

“I can see your heart is pure Oberon, I know that you will not.”

“I shall pass the message to all Narnians,” Oberon said, as he bowed before Aslan. Aslan nodded his head and then turned his golden back.

Aslan disappeared. Oberon sighed. He turned to his two knights.

“We must spread this message about the Land. Narnia is in danger and we must prepare for all sorts of wicked devilry.”

The Oak King and his Knights rode on the wind and passed the message to all Talking Animals to make sure that the non-talking animals were catered for and fed. The Centaurs kept their eyes further in the skies to look for any ill omen, so that the Narnians knew what kind of machination the self-professed Queen of Narnia was going to put Narnia through.

Aslan watched the pool to look upon Professor Digory Kirk. He was now a man and a very clever one at that. He watched Digory climb in and out of the Wardrobe. Aslan laughed, although a lion’s laugh is more like a purr.

“No, my dear boy, you are too old for Narnia. But the time shall come when you and I will meet again. But it was clever of you to work out that the Wardrobe is the way in for OTHERS that shall be placed in your care.”

He breathed on the water and the water shifted for him to look at Narnia. He was pleased. All his subjects were heeding his warning and gathering enough supplies and food to last. He blinked. He had done all he could. But there was ONE last detail.

He transported back to Narnia. He breathed on the Oak King’s tree. Oberon appeared and bowed before Aslan.

“I have one last thing to do, before I leave for other countries.”

Oberon frowned. “Your Majesty?”

“I am going to put a spell on the land to make sure the food is preserved well for at least a hundred years. Also as my subjects have diligently heeded my warning then I shall increase their stores if ever they run out.”

Oberon smiled. He knew Aslan cared deeply for Narnia. Aslan smiled. He padded his way into the forest. He muttered an incantation under his breath and then roared so loudly that the ground shook.

Jadis smirked in her castle of ice and snow. She knew that with her plans even the fool of a Lion couldn’t intervene. She was just about to cast her spell when she heard the Lions roar. Aslan was here! How come none of her spies told her? She strode angrily out of her iced castle and was about to order her sleigh when Aslan himself appeared in her Courtyard.

“Aslan, so nice to see you.”

“Jadis,” Aslan said. He shivered in this winter temple.

“What can I do for you?”

“I am here to tell you that I hereby give you leave to do to MY land as you see fit. BUT, there will a time come that your reign will end. That time shall be marked when two Sons of Adam, and two Daughters of Eve shall enter Narnia through a door from the World of Men. A door that they can enter but you will never be able to go through!”

“What are you saying, Aslan?” Jadis sighed.

“I am saying that you only have SO much power, Jadis. I am also saying that you will not succeed.”

Jadis narrowed her dark eyes. “I am more powerful than you think, Aslan. And I will control Narnia. AS for these so called children. It will be easy to dispose of them!” she sneered as she regarded her wand licking her lips.
“Hmm, pride comes before a fall, Jadis!”

Aslan turned and transported himself out of Jadis castle. The witch fumed.

“How dare he challenge me!” she exclaimed angrily.

She raised her wand and twirled it around. The skies outside were turning steely grey, the ground cooled down. The rivers and lakes were beginning to freeze. In an instant Narnia was turned to a land of Winter!

Aslan watched his beautiful country become dead in almost an instant. The Witch had killed Narnia with her spell. He knew it would be something like this. He breathed on the water again to look at Mrs Pevensie from Finchley. She was smiling. She was holding a four-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl. She was telling them something.

Aslan smiled, the third child of the prophecy was on his way. He knew that whilst it might seem forever in Narnia years on Earth it was but a short time. The Witch won’t have THAT much playtime.
