Unhappy Re: Dragonlance Movie

I think that all of these ideas are totally awsome and deservant of consideration among the movie ppl who are so dimwitted when it comes to fantasy movies. But I think that hands down Angelina Jolie would make the perfect kitara. As for raistlin I am at a loss, and caramon.....well if this movie would have been made 50 years ago I would have said steve reeves, but I am at a loss for him as well. But i was thinking that brad pitt might make a good Tanis. And for flint we could use danny devito!!!j/k.lol!!!!!!!!!!! But for bupu we could use the guy that played many me!!!!????Im so confused...

Re: Dragonlance Movie

Personally I can think of one man perfect for the role of Caramon, none other than Hercules himself, Kevin Sorbo

Re: Dragonlance Movie

You have to consider age.

Kevin Sorbo is too old to play caramon now.

I could actually see Brad Pitt or Edward Norton as Raistlin. Think of Brad Pitt in Fight Club or 12 monkies. He could definitely be cynical enough to be Raistlin. He might be too big of a start though.

Angelina Jolie is definitely a perfect Kit though.

I wish Uma Thurman was younger, she'd be an excellent Laurana. They might be able make her look younger (hide the wrinkles) but I don't think so.

Re: Dragonlance Movie

For Tika... well the Playboy Playmate, Christine Smith, for this month (dec 05) is a buxom natural redhead. I'm not sure how she is at acting, but Tika doesn't have to do much. It looks like they died her hair for her photos a little (to make it more blonde) but her other pics show that she has fiery red hair.

For me its more important for the actors to fit the character's, rather than picking some good actor and trying to fit him into a character. So Tika is only appropriately played by a Buxon natural redhead.

Re: Dragonlance Movie

I think Edward Nortan is perfect for Raistlin because of his roll in Primal Fear (1996).
Kevin Sorbo is a little to old and his character Hurculies was strong without looking strong.. they need someone who is Conan the Barbarian strong looking. Someone from a Mr. Universe competition with acting skills would be a good choice.
Jessica Alba as Goldmoon is Perfect...she has dark skin and is incredible beautiful......
Topher Grace as Tasslehoff would be good.. he has the boyish look and showed some acting depth in his recent films.
For Riverwind you would need an Inian over 6'3", not sure what actors fit the bill for that one?

Re: Dragonlance Movie

Its not live action but it is actually moving forward!

Casing for the movie has now been completed with Kiefer Sutherland assuming voicing duties for Raistlin Majere. Sutherland is of course best known as Jack Bauer from TV`s "24", however he also has a string of acclaimed movie roles to his credit. Sutherland joins a voice cast which includes Lucy Lawless ("Xena: Warrior Princess") as Goldmoon, Michael Rosenbaum ("Smallville") as Tanis Half-Elven, and Michelle Trachtenberg ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") as Tika Waylan, for the animated movie adaptation of "Dragons of Autumn Twilight".

Other significant roles in the film include:

Fred Tatasciore (Flint Fireforge)
Rino Romano (Caramon Majere)
Jason Marsden (Tasslehoff Burrfoot)
Mark Worden (Sturm Brightblade)

Re: Dragonlance Movie

This is actually the first I've heard of this adaptation.

Do you know anything more about it? I can't say I'm too thrilled about it being animated. I imagine it'll be aimed towards the 10 year old set....

CG like FF The Spirits Within would have been cool. The last cell shaded movie to do anything at the box office... was... well.... I can't even remember.
'
Of course what this really means is that a live action adaptation will not be happening any time soon.

Re: Dragonlance Movie

I agree with OOCALLY's casting.

With a few exceptions to drop the following:

Kiera Knightley
Julia Stiles
Jessica Alba

No this is the first Ive heard of it as well. Ive read quite a few complaints about the writer (from Xena and Herculese TV shows) and the planned length (90 - 100 minutes) and rated PG13. I assume the producers are aiming at the same audience as the awful Dungeons and Dragons movie a few years ago. I dont think the length is enough to do the story justice despite the fact that thay are only doing the first book: Dragons of Autumn Twilight.

The art style is supposed to be similar to the modern Dragonlance comics. The comics are airbrushed instead of inked to make the characters look more multi dimensional.

quote from Margaret Weis herself

"Dear Friends,

I really wanted to wait until we could make the WAHOO Big Announcement on the dragonlance movie site (which is coming any day now, so keep watch!). But since Lucy Lawless gave us away, I'll let you know what's going on. Paramount Studios is making Dragons of Autumn Twilight as a full-length, adult, animated movie. I'll let the movie site provide you with details on the director, screen play writer, animation house, and all that.

Suffice it to say, Tracy and I have been working with the production team for over a year now. They've been wonderful to work with! They've allowed us to have script approval and asked for our suggestions. They've shown us all the art work and allowed us approval on that (as well as the WoTC art director in charge of Dragonlance). We've been working with the Whitestone Council people on this as well. (Thanks, guys!)

From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing! The art is great. Hopefully some of it will be up on the movie site. And Tracy and I will be talking more about the movie and maybe bringing along some art pieces on our book tour.

Tracy and I are both very excited about this!

Margaret"

Re: Dragonlance Movie

90-100 minutes. Oh man. Sometimes I wish I could find hollywood execs and kick them in the head.

If you spent the money on it, this would be a sure thing, success on the level of LOTR. You have a guaranteed audience of millions who would come to see it, plus all the others you hook with a few teaser images of knights fighting on dragonback.

If they do it half-assed they should expect a half-assed turnout and a half-assed box office.
