UC Silmarillion blades.

I once red an interview with Kit Rae in which he stated that he would like to create and release one or more silmarillion blades.
I happen to think that's a very nice idea. Kit said that Gurthang was a favourite of him, I for myself would be glad to own Ringil, fingolfin's sword. What do you all think?

Oh that would be absolutely fantastic, that is if the style suits me. I'd like to see Angrist, and they could do Anguirel to go with Anglachel (later Gurthang), or maybe not ... it's not such a well-known blade. Gurthang would have to be something *very* special, if it's nice there's a chance I'd purchase and I think many swordcollectors/tolkien readers with me.

Good Day Gentlemen, I would love to have these two Swords:

1. Orcrist 2. The Black Sword of Beleg

i would like to own ringil and feanors sword

Feanor 10-07-2003 03:48 PM

yeh feanors sword would be cool, but any they make would probably look great

byzantine warrior 10-07-2003 04:07 PM

yes I agree any sword would be fine

finrod 10-07-2003 04:51 PM

I would love Feanor's blade as well, this is my top-5 of silm swords I wanna have

1 Ringil
2 sword of Feanor
3 Glamdring ( a Silmarillion version of the sword. I love UC's lotr version as well but I doubt that it is a blade a great elvenking would use, It also didn't fit the descriptions given in unfinished tales and the hobbit).
4. Gurthang
5. Angrist.

If Kit Rae would be so nice to produce us all those then I would be
very pleased indeed

byzantine warrior 10-07-2003 05:17 PM

yup but they wouldnt be made after ROTK im speculating because of all the new projects out there

Narsil's weilder 10-07-2003 05:24 PM

Yea but I can speculate that after ROTK is out the publicity may grow for need of more things LOTR. So who knows.

finrod 10-07-2003 05:28 PM

Im positive of that too.

Orcrist...

If Orcrist would be made, please let it be based on Alan Lee's paintings (just like Glamdring was)!!!

finrod 10-10-2003 02:20 PM

I'm sure Kit would manage to make something very nice of it.

Eriol 10-10-2003 02:40 PM

Gentlemen, I believe that The Hobbit would be a very good prequel the the LOTR movie trilogy. If enough intrest is shown from the public, perhaps New Line would talk Peter Jackson into making it.

If that happens then Weta would have to make Thorin's sword to go with Glamdring. Imagine what the openig of that film would be like. What do you think?

Arnkell 10-10-2003 02:56 PM

Well it would either open with a prologue of the Lonely Mountain, thriving under dwarven care, then Smaug coming and claiming it, then later through the movie several flashbacks can go back and show stuff you didn't see in the beginning (just like with Elrond & Isildur inside Mt. Doom, a later flashback in FOTR).

Or they'll just start with Bagshot Row.

finrod 10-10-2003 04:52 PM

yeah and flashbacks to the elvensmiths of Gondolin while Elrond tells about the origins of Orcrist and Glamdring and after that seeing Turgon holding Glamdring high and another elvenlord holding Orcrist.
I always wondered who the owner of orcrist might have been, given the fact that Orcrist was of equal bauty and might as Glamdring, it's wielder must have been one important, mighty elf.
Luckily, those of us who read BoLT part II are not altogether unfamilliar with the most important elvenlords of Gondolin, so my guess is........ Ecthelion?
