I am making a jacket like Aragorn wears in FOTR and i was wondering how you guys would make it look all muddy and aged. I like to wear the jacket with other things so i don't want it to smell, so would it be a good idea to get it wet and muddy? Any help would be great

hmmmm,
one things i did to help give it the aged look was put it in a dryer. mine was big though( i got it wet)when it came out it had shrunk some. I put my leather in a large pillowcase filled with rocks LOL
maybe you could put soome dirt clumps in it for the muddy look.

I went to to the tribe yesterday and one of the ladies told me to do this, she said when they are making a patch or whatever and they want to match it to look the same as the others, she uses a rough grade sand paper and goes against the grain.

Try rubbing in some coffee grounds. Its a good way to simulate dirt and grim.
yeah but it will smell like a capachino lol

The pillow case and rocks sounds like it'd work well.
You could also put it up against a boulder and pound it with a rubber mallet.

when i had to age my duster the night before ORC I used a small "Mouse" palm sander to really bang up and wear the leather. Then used sand paper and a wire brush to damameg it further. Still havem't dirtied it so I can't help with that.
